ICYMI Belgium is the latest country to implement a four-day workweek. Various countries and companies have experimented with the idea, which is gaining traction in many parts of the world, but, do we think SA is ready for a 4-day work week?
Most employees would shout an enthusiastic "yes!" when asked if they would prefer a 4-day work week with fewer hours. But, what happens when you're working the same amount of hours over a fewer number of days? As with most things, there are pros and cons to this approach and certainly, more to it than meets the eye.
As with everything, there are pros and cons and most of us look at it from an employee perspective, so we flipped the script to see it from a C-suite perspective, and asked TE's COO, @ThusoSekhaolelo to weigh in:
"For me, a four-day workweek seems possible - we've been forced to work from home for two years now and companies and industries have managed to adapt to the change. Can it work for the PR industry? Possibly, we are a fluid industry and in addition to working from home there has also been an increase in freelancing, people are more open to change and having a better work-life balance."
