Mojak Lehoko wins Roast Battle Season 2

Over the course of seven episodes of Comedy Central Roast Battle Season 2, audiences have witnessed several shameful losses to finally seeing the crown being handed over to the dynamite that caused the most damage, Mojak Lehoko. Through the gruelling battles and constantly topping his own acts, Mojak took no prisoners and scorched the competition in the finale episode on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) on Monday night. If you missed it, you can catch the repeat on Saturday 1 September at 23:25 CAT.

During the epic, flamethrowing second season, nothing was off limits and the Roasters took things to blisteringly funny and searing hot extremes as week by week, those who fell flat got left behind in the roast pit, with only the heat of their shame to keep them company. All in jest.

Mojak Lehoko took care of Lazola Gola with such ease that he left him stuttering on stage during the first half of the extended finale episode. Next, Carl Weber was tamed into submission by Robby Collins, whose boyish charm was no match to the flaming tongue and epic wit of Mojak in the final round.

Referee Loyiso Madinga, Roast Master John Vlismas, and the judging panel with Tumi Morake and Kagiso Lediga were kept on their toes as no one was safe from the flames during the season.

Said Mojak Lehoko: “Winning the Comedy Central Roast Battle was an incredible achievement, second to me passing my third year in Varsity on the second attempt. The experience was lots of fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I look forward to battling more roasters all across the world.”

Roast Battle is a wildly successful international format that first debuted at the Montreal Comedy Festival and is now filmed as a Comedy Central television show internationally with localised versions being produced in the USA, UK, Mexico and South Africa.

Season two of Roast Battle South Africa has once again been a ratings hit on Comedy Central showcasing the best comedic talents from around the country thinking fast on their feet in this non-scripted, totally improvised format.

Commented Dillon Khan, Vice President for Comedy Central & Creative Services for Viacom International Media Networks Africa: “Comedic cream always rises to the top and we saw this consistently with the baby face assassin Mojak Lehoko as he dispatched his opponents throughout the Roast Battle season making him a deserved winner of the put down”.
