One is known for leaving crowds in stitches every time he steps on stage; the other as the Kaptein of the Afrikaans music genre. Skhumba Hlophe and Kurt Darren are ready to fan the flames as the latest panellists to the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi in partnership with Showmax.  The show will be broadcast on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) on Monday, 7 May 2018 at 21:00 CAT, followed with the extended uncensored version to Showmax subscribers from Tuesday, 8 May 2018.

In the world of comedy, Skhumba’s effervescent persona and ability to make even his “worst critics laugh”, both through his television and radio work, has seen his career skyrocket since starting off eKasi. His “Kasi style flavour” has since seen him on the Blacks Only stage 11 times and sell out two of his countrywide one man shows in the past two years.

Commented Skhumba: “It feels good to be part of the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi and I am looking forward to it. I ain’t afraid of S***; in fact, is Somizi ready?”

With 21 albums under his belt, singer and entertainer Kurt Darren has paid his dues in the entertainment industry since debuting his premiere album, For Your Precious Love, in 1995, winning seven South African Music Awards.

Commented Kurt Darren: “Comedy Central Roast of Somizi will be a true test on my sokkie jokes. I know the viewers will enjoy them; I just wonder whether Somizi is ready for the dance.”

The filming of the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi will be open to the public and will take place on Thursday, 26 April 2018 at the Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre, south of Johannesburg.  Ticket prices start from R200 per person and are available at Computicket.
