Distinguished talented stage and TV actress and the star of BET’s The Quad, Anika Noni Rose, is in South Africa to experience the best of what our beautiful country has to offer.

Having enjoyed a successful career on stage, television and the big screen, she has made a name for herself by appearing in films such as Dreamgirls, with Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx and Beyonce, and voicing Princess Tiana in The Princess and the Frog.  Currently she is starring as lead character, Dr Eva Fletcher in BET’s hit drama, The Quad.

On Broadway, Anika’s powerful voice and presence has made her a darling of the stage, winning a Tony Award for Best Actress in a musical for Caroline, or Change, a Theatre World Award and the Lucille Lortel Award for outstanding featured actress.  Other major roles in stage productions include Cat on a hot tin roof, A Raisin in the Sun and Company.

In television, her career has seen her feature on some of the biggest shows in major episode-arcs including The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, will Jill Scott, The Good Wife, Bates Motel and Roots.

While visiting South Africa, Anika will be meeting with Viacom International Media Networks Africa, BET and Multichoice in country executives and staff, visiting historical landmarks including Mandela’s house in Soweto and enjoying the beauty and culture of South Africa.

BET’s The Quad is currently airing its intriguing second season, Mondays at 21:30 CAT on BET (DStv channel 129). Hailed as an “entertaining guilty pleasure” by the L.A. Times, season 2 continues the struggles of Dr. Eva Fletcher as she tries to raise capital for the almost bankrupt institution, which may force a merger with another nearby college.

Continuing to bring viewers some of the best entertainment on television, BET viewers can look forward to a variety of captivating new local and international shows such as The Man Council, starting on Monday 5 March at 22:30 CAT, while in April two local shows Fix My Love and Made in Africa will launch on the channel.
